iVote Project

iVote

In recent years around election time, more and more young Americans feel that their vote does not make a dierence. This unfortunate thought has a negative eect on the very foundation of our government. Why should a young man or woman feel that if they express their voice, nothing would come of it? Over the past 40 years voter turnout for Presidential elections has remained around 50 percent, and many project those numbers to remain steady in the future. The nonprot organization, iVote, will focus on bringing voting awareness and education to today's youth by using various methods that are already familiar to most of the demographic. Through popular social and media networks such as Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, and Comcast, we will be able to reach far more audiences than ever before. Our organization will help plan and implement various events around many schools that will help promote our program and educate those attending about voter registration and the voting process; keeping in mind the audience and making the atmosphere comfortable and fun. By utilizing these methods iVote will be successful in presenting the facts about elections as well as a non-partisan review of the issues that each candidate supports. It is our aspiration that by the 2008 Presidential elections we will see a drastic climb in voter turnout for young adults and in turn, instilling the values of a Democratic-Republic on future generations.
